Please mark your calendars that TBPA's monthly luncheons are now held on the second Thursday of the month.

Please join us for our May Luncheon which will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm at The Tampa Club, 42th Floor, 101 E. Kennedy Blvd., in downtown Tampa. Our guest speaker will be Rachel Lunsford, Esq., of Barnett Bolt Kirkwood & Long who will be speaking on Probate Law - From the Perspective of a Dead Celebrity.

Be sure to RSVP your attendance to our Luncheon Coordinator by Thursday, May 1, 2014 by sending an email confirming your attendance, and then mailing your luncheon check as stated on the Reservation Form.

During our 2014 Monthly Luncheons, SLK Investigations will be having a free door prize drawing as part of their 2014 Board PACE/PCC Scholarship sponsorship. Please remember to bring your business cards to enter the door prize drawing!

The Tampa Club will validate your parking ticket for a reduced price of $2.00 between the hours of 11:30 and 2:30.

As you may be aware, TBPA's membership benefits has expanded and we are now approved as an affiliate of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA)! This is in addition to the automatic membership with the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) and the Florida Alliance of Paralegal Associations (FAPA)!  We are excited that our membership now reaps the benefits from four associations!   For other TBPA Membership benefits, please see the attached listing of benefits

The Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee is accepting Nominations for the 2013 Pro Bono Awards. This is the first year which Paralegals can be Nominated for a Paralegal Pro Bono Award by this Committee! Deadline to submit is Tuesday February 18th - so get your Pro Bono Nomination Form completed and submitted via mmary@flmb.uscourts.gov.  Please click here for the Nomination Form and instructions. 

TBPA will continue to participate in the Wills For Heros for its Pro Bono project for 2014 in helping our community first responders with the Tampa Police Department and Fire Departments to have Wills and medical directives in place. To see the 2014 dates for Wills For Heros events or other Pro Bono Projects, please

The 2014 TBPA Community Service projects will mainly focus on the PACE Center for Girls, Inc., plus the special programs of Toys For Tots and the Military Legalman (USO Welcome Center at Tampa International Airport). Florida Rules Update:  

Please see the TBPA Educational Resources webpage for recent information regarding the Florida Rules update on "eFiling Rule" which includes the January 2013 Luncheon presentation conducted by Doug Bakke, Chief Deputy, Clerk of the Hillsborough County Court.  

TBPA Paralegal Student Mentors 

TBPA Mentor Committee is working with the Hillsborough Community College to pair paralegal students with working paralegals for an interview by the students. If you want to participate as a Mentor in this program or if you'd like to be assigned to a Mentor, please contact the Mentor Committee Chair, Nita Serrano. Also, you can download the application and provide it to the TBPA Mentor Committee.
